My Viva Mayr Experience 22nd -29th November 2008

I arrived in Klagenfurt, Austria on the 22nd November 2008, to visit the popular Viva Mayr Clinic, and to experience the treatment and learn the techniques as taught by the eminent Dr Harold Stossier.

I was collected from the airport and taken straight to the hotel. The trip was arranged and planned by ARCH, the Association of which I am a free member. Ten of my colleagues also attended so there was definitely safety in numbers. So, bags in reception, a gentleman was standing there, he had a metal rack which he loaded the bags on, reception gave us our room no’s and keys. Off we went to our rooms. I was amazed at how hot the hotel was, my mind went to my suitcase – I thought “oh no, I’ve packed all thick woolen jumpers – how was I going to manage”?

As we had arrived late, the clinic staff had left a snack in our rooms. This was very welcoming! – a present was left by the side of the plate, I opened it – ah a book, on the Mayr method. I was excited, something to read before bed. I unpacked, got myself settled and checked out the bathroom. Very impressive ‘5 star’!! a week of luxury – I felt very grateful and quite indulgent. But what the heck, “maybe I deserve it”. Next day, up at 6am, did all my ablutions and then down to the dining room for breakfast at 7.30.

What was offered for breakfast I did not expect. I was served a flat small piece of spelt bread and a small round of goats cheese. I thought that this was probably just a starter but it was not! I was told to eat it very slowly as the point of the spelt bread was to start up the digestion. So the chewing was imperative – this was different for me as my breakfast is usually green juices with a cocktail of vitamins and minerals – was this going to be my weeks’ experience?

I left the dining room at 8.45am feeling hungry. I knew that we would be meeting Dr Stossier for lunch and for the introduction to the clinic. “Can’t wait”!!

We all assembled in the school room where the table was set for lunch. Very nice, the table setting felt like a posh restaurant “nice”. The waitress came in with large plates and set the tables. Shortly afterwards our starters arrived. Oh yes the spelt bread again, this time with avocado and smoked mackerel pate. Dr Stossier had previously explained about the Mayr method and about the importance of the bread before the meal. How it was really about getting the digestive system going. The slower the chewing the more saliva is produced, this helps the digestion to assimilate the food better. By the time the main course arrived we were all ready to assimilate!!

What a pleasant surprise – the main course was beautifully presented, a Cordon Bleu delight. Colours, texture, presentation- you didn’t want to touch it, it was like a piece of art work. The girls eyes looked like saucers, and like me they were salivating!! Dr Stossier looked at us like an old wise sage, or school professor, with a knowing smile on his face. We all tucked in, but slowly….slowly…. I made sure that I put my fork down in between mouthfuls, well, not mouthFULLs – but you get the ‘gist’.

We were so slow to put food in our mouths because we were chewing that it looked like slow motion. It was delicious. “is that it then??” no, we had finished, our plates were clean then ‘wow’ a pudding! It was a real visual delight, a large plate with a type of yoghurt mould with a blueberry coolie around it, and with a mint decoration on top. It was beautiful. We ate in silence apart from the initial gasp from Dilys and her response to the first mouthful “wow, this is orgasmic”! Dr Stossier nearly choked on his stifled laugh. We all took the tiniest bite and just enjoyed the treat. Gosh is it over? Funnily enough I was now satisfied, full, then the penny dropped, this is not about the quantity of food, nor about the bread, but about being with your food, taking your time and chewing every mouthful as if it were your last meal. Or as one of our colleagues expressed like making love, slowly and attentively, and with appreciation – wonderful.

We did not drink with our meal, we were all satisfied by the end of the meal and there were big smiley faces all round. The table was cleared and Dr Stossier got us all to introduce ourselves. He gave us an introduction about himself too. I was very impressed, sitting up straight, pen poised in hand. I thought “I am really going to enjoy this week. I am in my element here, beautiful surroundings and learning about health. 7th heaven for me!

We were shown around the clinic by Dr Stossier. He is a tall, proud man, quite handsome, with a glint of mischief in his eyes. As the week went on I realized that he was extremely patient as well and deserved the title Dr (teacher).

We went from one section to the other treatment rooms which consisted of a colonic room, a laboratory, massage rooms, a gym, room for a foot detox, baths, Kneipp treatments through to swimming pool, sauna, a special light therapy room, and a quiet area for relaxing. Through the other section, downstairs to a very impressive beauty section – it feels as though you have entered a spa at Champneys ‘nice’.

I indulged in all of the above apart from the beauty section – however, I had a hormone screening plus food intolerance test – they were impressed with my health. I was very pleased as I have spent over 30 years looking after myself. Its good to know that what you are doing works!

The week went quickly. Each day from 2.30 until 6pm we were training with Dr Stossier. We practiced on each other – I can only imagine what goes into training to be a Doctor. It was the first time that Dr Stossier had opened his centre to train complementary therapists and we felt very honored. We learned lots about each other as the week went on. All of us looking out for each other.

We made Dr Stossier laugh out loud, I think he really enjoyed us – Christine our liaison was wonderful, nothing was too much for her to do or arrange for us. She became one of the girls.

Now that I am aware of the Mayr philosophy I am definitely going to incorporate it into my treatment systems.

Did I mention the snow??

Or the Christmas market?

Well, I think you should try the Viva experience for yourself!!

Wild vs. Farm Salmon

Health experts encourage us to eat more oily fish for the sake of our hearts, but just how good for you is the salmon on sale in your local supermarket?

A recent American study has revealed that all farmed salmon contains alarmingly high levels of carcinogenic polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and dioxins. However farmed salmon from Scotland contains the highest levels of these substances in the world. 99% of salmon on sale in British supermarkets today is farmed, and most of it is Scottish in origin.

PCBs are highly toxic chemicals that are the result of industrial pollution between the 1920s and 1970s. Because they break down easily, they continue to contaminate the world’s supply. PCBs concentrate in oils and fats their levels are much higher in farmed salmon because of the high level of fish oil contained in the industrial fish meal that is used to feed the fish.

PCBs build up in the salmon at up to 30 times the level in their feed. Farmed salmon is ten times more contaminated and contains 52% more body fat than wild salmon, but it also contains 35% less of the healthy Omega 3 fatty acids.

While current advice is to eat at least two portions of oily fish a week, the American guidelines recommended eating farmed salmon no more than once every four months. To reduce exposure to PCBs, all visible fat should be trimmed before cooking and fish should be grilled or baked rather than fried to help lower the fat content.

Over the past 20 years there has been a dramatic increase in the amount of factory farmed salmon produced in Scotland. Farmed fish are kept in shallow concentrate troughs and intensive crowding– as many as five fish per square foot– which spread disease and parasites. To combat these, high dose of antibiotics are routinely fed to the fish.

As well as antibiotics, the pigment canthaxanthin is added to the fish meal to turn the flesh pink (untreated, the flesh of farmed salmon is grey because the fish are denied their natural carotenoid rich diet). Canthaxanthin is banned for direct human consumption because it is though to be carcinogenic. Organic salmon is much paler in colour than the conventionally farmed variety as no synthetic dye is permitted in its feed. Organic standards impose strict controls on feeding and nay fish meal must be made with the trimmings from fish caught for human consumption, not industrial fish meal. No growth hormones or GMOs are permitted, and the routine use of antibiotics is not allowed. What’s more, the use fish lives because stocking densities are half that of conventional farms.

Wild salmon is both safe and healthy to eat. Although fresh wild salmon can be expensive and difficult to find, most tinned salmon comes from wild stocks.

99% of salmon on sale in British supermarkets today is farmed and most of it comes from Scotland

Farmed salmon from Scotland has been found to contain the highest levels of cancer-causing chemicals in the world

Given the cocktail chemicals, artificial colourings and contaminants, Scottish farmed salmon should carry a Government Health Warning

The Facts- Farmed salmon vs. Wild Salmon

Contains high levels of toxins and carcinogens

Contains 52% more body fat than wild salmon but 35% less Omega 3

Routinely given antibiotics

Pink colour comes from the artificial pigment canthaxanthin, which is banned for direct human consumption

Fed industrial fish meal

No growth hormones or GMOs permitted

Routine use of antibiotics not allowed

Lower in fat, but higher in Omega 3

Flesh is pale in colour because synthetic dyes are not added to feed

Fed with fish meal made only from the trimmings of fish caught for human consumption

The following is a testimonial from a patient who attended one of our 7 day liver detox.

“I thought my guts were in pretty good shape. I went regularly (every day) and made a point of eating fairly healthily, so it was a great surprise to me when I was hit one day by an excruciating pain which took a journey round my body lighting up every organ as it passed by and scaring me into the doctor’s surgery. The doctor had a prod around my stomach area, told me I needed scans and to come back after they’d been done.

So, by the time I’d made the appointments (for 2 and 6 weeks time) the pain had dulled down into discomfort and the panic had died down enough for me to hear my body telling me, “it’s gallstones”. For once I listened to the little voice within and I tracked down Merlee’s number. After a colonic she confirmed my suspicion and luckily was holding a 7-day liver cleanse at Beechcroft and I booked in.

Even though I felt I had stones I was still amazed at what left my body after taking part in the cleanse and having seen the amount and size of some of the stones I’m not surprised I was in pain.

A week after the cleanse I had my ultrasound at the hospital and they couldn’t find any stones. At the follow-up chat with my GP, who knew nothing about liver cleanses and wanted to know what I’d done, he closed our meeting by saying, “you’re good, you know how to take care of yourself.”

I think it would be more accurate to say that now, after attending Merlee’s 7 day Liver Cleanse at Beechcroft, I know how to take better care of my digestive system and hopefully I will never let myself get into that sort of state again. For me the best endorsement for cleansing with Merlee is the woman herself. I’ve known her for 30 years and she doesn’t look a day older than the first time I met her plus she has the energy and enthusiasm of youth. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

Adapted from “Life Again, after mercury poisoning” by Warren Stewart, PhD
Amalgam Fillings

Findings were obtained in Denmark, where amalgam fillings were placed in the teeth of monkeys. After one year these amalgam fillings, which weighed no more than 0.7-1.2 grams each, caused a deposit of mercury in the spinal ganglia, the anterior pituitary, adrenal gland, medulla, liver, kidneys, lungs and intestinal lymph glands. In Sweden it was found that pregnant monkeys exposed to mercury vapour experienced early abortion, premature birth, a low birth weight, along with prenatal death. Furthermore, it has been found that female dental assistants working with amalgams have a lower fertility rate than other women in general. Women who prepared thirty or more amalgams per week and did not take sufficient precautionary measures when preparing the amalgams had a 50% lower probability of conceiving compared with women who had not been exposed to the amalgams.

Mercury has also been found to damage kidneys. Within thirty days of the placement of twelve amalgam fillings in six sheep, there was a 50% impairment of kidney function and by two months this had risen to 60%. Within ten days of the placement of an amalgam filling a high percentage of normal oral and intestinal bacteria had become mercury resistant; when bacteria becomes resistant to mercury it turns the different isotopes of mercury into elemental mercury vapour, which is then recycled back into the body.

When a tooth is drilled out, a resin is placed in before the application of the amalgam filling. This is supposed to seal the cavity and prevent any of the metals in the amalgam from entering into the body or pulp of the tooth and subsequently through the root into the bone and surrounding tissues. Studies have shown using radioactive labelling that mercury does in fact migrate through the protective resin into the tooth. The pulp of the tooth extends to the end of the root where there is a restricted opening at the very end to allow the body to provide blood and nutrients to the tooth. Mercury also gets into the body in the form of vapour through the nose. It is absorbed by the mucus and passed rapidly to the brain.

In short mercury interferes with a whole host of vital body functions and destroys body chemistry. For instance, chronic fatigue can be related to oxygen insufficiency; mercury prevents oxygen from binding with the haemoglobin in red blood cells. Slow healing processes are in part caused by zinc deficiency; mercury interferes with the metabolizing of zinc in the body. Having to get up regularly at night to pass water is a result of insufficient action of the posterior pituitary hormone; mercury hinders the production and activity of this hormone.

Nevertheless, the primary target organ locations are: the kidneys, the heart muscle, the lungs, the liver, the spleen, the brain and nerve tissue; other target tissues include: the thyroid gland, the pituitary gland, the adrenal glands, the testes, bone marrow, skeletal muscle, intestinal walls and red blood cells.

The level of mercury in the brain will remain high for many years as its release form there is very slow. It has been known to remain present in the brain for up to ten years. Thus there is no such thing as a stable amalgam filling; it is without a doubt a known and proven source of mercuric poisoning. Each one will leak mercury in every direction into the body, into the gum tissue surrounding the tooth, into the air of the mouth, into the saliva and hence into the bloodstream; acted upon by normal bacteria in the body it will be turned into the dangerously toxic methyl mercury.

Removal of Amalgam Fillings Improves Health

For those who have suffered from long term illnesses which appeared to have no basis, tests that always came out clear, varying symptoms that had no apparent connection, surely the proof is in recovery. Having my amalgam fillings removed certainly improved my health. I had become terribly ill; I spent most of the day in bed; I could not concentrate or think clearly, the thought of undertaking a task, even a simple one was difficult; I had sore eyes and I no longer even felt confident enough to drive. Now I seem to have boundless energy; I am up early and I have completed many projects including writing several books. My dentist told me that while some people do improve in health after having their amalgam fillings removed, others do not. However, when the mercury level is high the body has a real challenge getting rid of it. People sometimes expect to feel healthier as soon as the amalgams are removed, but a variety of factors like diet and nutrition determine how long it takes to expel the mercury.

Many experts still insist that if amalgam fillings are not appearing to cause problems then there is no need to have them removed. But the big question is: How likely is it that someone with amalgams will be aware that the fillings are causing problems; and how much damage would the body have already sustained until problems start to show? Moreover, is it actually wise to wait until problems start to appear, for who can tell how much mercuric poisoning the body would have been subjected to up to that point? Since mercuric poisoning can cause long term and even irreversible damage to the body, every amalgam filling is a potential time bomb just waiting to go off! A low mercury level in the urine does not necessarily mean that you have low mercury toxicity; it probably means that the body is storing the mercury. Dr Huggins found in one patient a urine level of 12μg (12 micro grams; that is 12 parts in one million). After the removal of the amalgam fillings however the level of mercury in the patient’s urine shot up to 136μg and her symptoms started improving. She had suffered from low body temperature, and mercuric poisoning has been known to interfere with the normal functioning of the thyroid gland which is instrumental in controlling body temperature. Her white blood cell count also, which had previously been abnormally high came down to more normal figures. Her body temperature too stabilized.

The improvement may be slow in some and dramatic in others, but it does happen. Another patient, a young school boy, suffered from chronic fatigue and as a result was only able to attend school on a part-time basis; following the removal of just one small amalgam filling (called a pit filling) his energy levels improved so much that he was able to catch up with his peers within three weeks. The most dramatic case however, must be of a 32 year old woman who had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis twelve years earlier and had been confined to a wheelchair for many years. A little over a year after having her amalgam fillings removed, she was skiing with Dr Huggins! Interestingly enough, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, in a letter to Dr Huggins, claimed that her condition had nothing to do with the amalgam fillings.

Overall 89% of all people who have had all their amalgam fillings removed report that their symptoms improve or are completely eliminated.

Mercury Affects the Immune System

The immune system is a fine tuned complex of glandular parts, specialized immune cells and chemical interactions. Mercury can pass through the roof of the mouth and into the brain … in very close proximity is the pituitary gland. It is this vitally important gland that stimulates the immune system by the release of growth hormones. As it happens, the appearance of many of our immune deficiency diseases coincided with the introduction of amalgam in fillings; thus it would be a natural conclusion to attribute this modern day phenomenon with mercury poisoning. Mercury has been found in high levels in the pituitary, thereby potentially giving rise to any untold number of problems with the immune system. Studies have found mercury to affect immune cell function. It has been found that after the removal of six amalgam fillings there was an increase in the number of immune cells the T-lymphocytes, the percentage of these increased from 47% to 73%; reinsertion of four amalgam fillings decreased the T-lymphocytes to 55%. With the immune system not functioning properly not only does it become harder for the body to fight viral and bacterial infections, but sufferers may also experience a variety of symptoms associated with immune system deficiency caused primarily by mercury poisoning. Another factor that must also be considered is the connection of cancer with mercury poisoning. Dr Huggins had seen a patient whose white blood cell count was 235,000, so dangerously high that the patient was in danger of developing leukaemia. After the removal of all his amalgam fillings however, his white blood cell count came down to 60,000 within two days and he was no longer living in fear of leukaemia. The mineral selenium which plays a vital role in the immune system can help reduce mercuric toxicity by binding with it and allowing the body to dispose of it eventually; the mineral is also important for the production of enzymes which generally assist the body in the prevention of disease causing processes.

A study done in Sweden on over 300 people, all suffering from a variety of medical problems, showed marked improvement over the broad range of their symptoms, when they had their amalgam fillings taken out and replaced with non mercury ones. Prior to the amalgam filings being removed, participants in the study were taking approximately 65 days sick leave between them on average; however, two years following the removal of the amalgam fillings this figure was reduced to 44 days, a percentage drop of 30%. The range of symptoms that were reported to have improved and the extent of the improvement varied from minor to quite dramatic nevertheless, all the participants reported some kind of improvement. Statistics compiled by the Foundation for Toxic Free Dentistry used studies done on over 1,500 patients, and showed percentage improvements on more than 30 different symptoms of between 54% and 97%.

Amalgam Removal and Detoxification

Finally, when amalgam fillings are removed, some people can initially experience unpleasant reactions. Drilling and local anaesthetics can certainly stir up the mercury laying dormant in the jaw bone and surrounding tissues; mercury vapour is also produced due to the drilling. Most people however, do not experience any ill side affects; for those who do, these affects usually do not last long. It is important however, not to have any residual matter from the fillings enter into the body accidentally, for example by being washed down into the throat during the procedure. For people feeling anxious about having their amalgam fillings removed, it may be a good idea to practice some relaxation or meditation exercises to reduce any anxiety that may occur during the process. All in all, no one suffers long term illnesses from having amalgam fillings removed and since it is a question of possible permanent damage to vital organs and body processes, the benefits are needless to say, innumerable

The enormous health and nutritional benefits of coconut oil have been ignored for decades because of the general advice not to consume saturated fat. Coconut oil is 86%-90% saturated, which makes it look unattractive-if you look no further. Most people looked no further until recently. Now we know that coconut oil is the most healthful oil in which to cook our food and the healthiest to spread on our toast. The cosmetics industry has always made wide use of coconut oil because of its extensive shelf-life and its wonderful effects on the skin.

The warnings we received about saturated fat never took account of the fact that there are three types of saturated fatty acid. We now know that long chain and short chain fatty acids should be avoided. Medium chain fatty acids are uniquely healthy. There are only two products in the market which belongs to this group, palm kernel oil and coconut oil. (Palm kernel oil is difficult to obtain at the right quality and causes environmental distress).

Coconut oil is used by the body in a different way from the other saturates and from mono- and poly-unsaturates. It is transported directly from the digestive-tract to the liver where it is converted into energy. This is why the oil has become known in some quarters as ‘athletes’ food.

Seed oils (eg sunflower, safflower, rapeseed and canola) have long fatty acid chains. This means that they are not the healthy option that they’ve been made out to be in the media. They are not easy to digest and they encourage weight gain by aggravating the thyroid gland and by interfering with the action of thyroid transport protein. The epidemic of thyroid disease, largely caused by the seed oils and their junk derivatives (margarine etc.) has not yet hit the headlines – but it will soon.

There are many symptoms of hypothyroidism (sluggish thyroid). These include weight gain, tiredness, lack of motivation, aching joints, loss of hair, premature loss of hair colour and dry skin. All these symptoms may improve with the introduction of coconut oil into the diet (and the removal of seed oils).

There are further problems with seed oils. They are extracted by solvent, residues of which pose a real health threat. Some seed oils, canola for example, need to be de-odorised, otherwise they smell disgusting. This process hydrogenates the oil by up to 5%. Hydrogenated oils are implicated in Alzheimer’s and other degenerative diseases.

The cells of the human body, wherever they are found in the body, have a requirement for saturated fat. It contributes to the integrity of the cell membrane or wall. In the absence of saturated fat in the diet, the cells are described by researchers as being ‘flabby’. This is because poly- unsaturates (seed oils) are unstable in sunshine, if the skin-cell membranes are partly composed of these, the skin itself is unstable in sunshine, the worst outcome of which process is skin cancer. Not only do you do your skin cells a favour by eating coconut oil, you can apply it to your skin as natural protection from the sun.

There is mounting evidence that coconut oil has benefits in a variety of gastro-intestinal disorders. Sufferers from Crohn’s disease who have introduced coconut oil into their diet have experienced relief from digestive distress and those who suffer from an infestation by parasite giardia (which is often misdiagnosed as Irritable Bowel Syndrome) also experience relief since the lauric acid content of coconut oil targets giardia and other parasites. Lauric acid, which is only found in coconut oil, palm kernel oil and human breast milk, kills the bacterium helicobacter pilori which causes stomach ulcers and, ultimately, stomach cancer.

Because the lauric acid in the coconut oil goes directly to the liver, some hepatic conditions are considerably improved by the introduction of coconut oil into the diet. The lauric and other acids mop up harmful bacteria and help to protect the liver from free-radical damage (oxidative stress). Coconut oil supports recovery from hepatitis C and cirrhosis. It may even help to prevent cirrhosis caused by alcohol abuse.

It was heart health which prompted most of us to switch from butter to margarine, from full fat to skimmed milk. We were advised that all saturated fats were bad and that we should avoid cholesterol. What that actually means is “avoid all animal products” but it has seldom been expressed in that way.

Coconut oil is cholesterol free. Studies which followed populations who changed from coconut oil to seed oil found alarming changes in the indicators of heart disease had taken place. The opposite was true of populations who changed from seed oil to coconut. Their heart health improved. In, fact, studies of populations who traditionally used, and still use, coconut oil as their main dietary fat, show populations to be very heart healthy; good HDL/LDL balance, little plaquing of the arteries, low mortality rate from heart disease etc. post mortem studies of the fats which clogged the arteries of victims of heart disease in the west found the clogs to be mainly composed of poly-unsaturated fat with mono-unsaturated next. Saturated fat, of whatever sort (!) was the least implicated fat. Coconut oil promotes the required cholesterol levels in due proportion (hdl/ldl) and, quite clearly, reduces the risk of heart disease.

Because the lauric acid in coconut oil kills lipid-coated (fat-coated, ie unfriendly) bacteria as well as fungi and yeasts, ingestion of the oil restores the balance of bacteria in the digestive tract. The ‘friendly’ ones help us to digest our food and don’t appear to be affected by coconut oil. A healthy adult human has about five kilos of these! Candida, yeast which occupies the digestive tract and causes misery if it gets out of control, is killed by lauric acid.

At the time of writing there are clinical trials going on looking into coconut oil in the treatment of HIV/AIDS, prostate disease, dental caries, MRSA, eczema and psoriasis.

Other benefits of coconut oil can be summarised as follows:-

It is stable. It can be kept at room temperature for years without going rancid. Seed oils are rancid when you buy them.

Coconut oil starts to smoke at around 185deg. C. under normal cooking conditions it doesn’t smoke at all.

At normal room temperature coconut oil has a consistency similar to that of butter which makes it convenient for spreading on bread or toast. It becomes a clear, bright liquid at about 25 deg C.

Organic virgin coconut oil is unrefined (all goodness left in), chemical additive free, GMO free and processed at the lowest possible temperature. It is simply pressed from premium quality ripe fruits of cocus nucifera. It is not bleached or deodorised. It contains no hydrogenated fat.

Baking with coconut oil is pretty much like baking with lard or butter but without their disadvantages. Although the oil has a slight coconut flavour this seldom imparted to the baking or cooking.

If you don’t want to cook with coconut oil but need to get the benefits, most people find it pleasant enough to eat by the spoonful.

Coconut oil is a fabulous skin moisturizer. Individuals with psoriasis, eczema or just dry skin benefit greatly from using it as a lotion. A little goes a long way.

Organic, virgin coconut oil is the champagne of dietary fat. Avoid other types of coconut oil as these will contain residues.

The lauric acid in coconut oil is converted by the body into mono-laurin which is a unique and powerful nutriceutical (a food which acts like a medicine). Since infection control is now a priority because of the imminent failure of antibiotics, the inclusion of coconut oil in the diet (about three and a half tablespoons per day) as an obvious step to take.

Enemas are a time tested old naturopathic treatment which help relieve constipation, gas and bloating.

However this does not excuse you from having a good diet, plenty of clean water and exercise. This is all part of good bowel management.

If you are nervous and unsure about how to do an enema we can teach you how to administer one, after which you will feel more confident about doing enemas from home or when travelling.

With a one off fee of £30 you can learn about what enemas can do for you and full information on the different types of enemas. To book an appointment through our London clinic call 0208 766 7244

Travelling often contributes to constipation as it requires a lot of sitting, and because a lot of people hold on to their waste not wanting to use the airplane/train’s toilets. An when you abroad certain foods that you are not used to eating can further complicate the constipation.

Why not laxatives?

Laxatives will only stimulate the bowels to move. Mostly this happens by the laxative over irritating the colon to move, which can cause discomfort, bloating and in some cases excessive pain. Laxatives can also become habit forming which can weaken the colon. One of the most obvious signs of poor colon health can be seen by physical abnormalities of the colon itself such as, ballooned colon, prolapsed colon, diverticulitis, spastic colon, haemorrhoids, piles and Crohn’s disease. You may ask “do I need internal cleansing?” I would say yes because there are a number of common health problems that are caused by toxic build up.

Constipation

Diarrhoea

Irregular bowel movements – which can stem from 3 days to 1 week, 2 weeks, or up to 3 weeks without emptying bowel.

Also indicated are headaches, skin and scalp problems, rashes and boils, acne, lower back pain, period pains, lack of energy, bad breath, fowl smelling stools, and vaginal infections such as thrush.

Anyone on a western diet will benefit from either doing something as simple as an enema, or taking the plunge and having a professional colonic.

So if you’ve got your flexible friend (enema bag) that your holiday can be much more enjoyable with bonus of a flat stomach for the beach – WOW! Ditch the sarong!!!

Skin brushing before a shower is one of the best methods of stimulating the lymphatic system, clearing dead skin cells, reducing the appearance of cellulite and improving circulation and skin tone.

Your skin brush and enema bag can be ordered through Cytoplan. Call 01684 310099 today and quote reference Merlee Harris.
